The house and landscape of Wyck are among the only living examples of a type of gardening—and life—that has otherwise disappeared with time.
Join Nicole Juday, landscape historian and author of Private Gardens of Philadelphia, in an exploration of what Wyck’s garden can tell us about the people who gardened there for centuries, and how this property connects to the great Philadelphia legacy of horticulture. Proceeds from this event’s ticket sales will support the ongoing care and maintenance of Wyck’s historic rose garden.
This lecture will be held in the First United Methodist Church of Germantown (FUMCOG) Sanctuary. Free parking is available on Walnut Lane. Two hour metered spaces are available on Germantown Avenue. Doors will open at 10:15.
Attendees have the option to select a box lunch addition to their ticket, which will be served at Wyck following the conclusion of the lecture. At lunch, Executive Director Kim Staub will speak about Wyck’s ongoing Exterior Restoration Project and answer questions about our conservation process.
Join us after lunch as we dedicate Wyck’s new Pennsylvania historic marker with an official ceremony at 1:00! The marker honors Wyck’s lasting contributions to Pennsylvania history and horticulture. Free tours of the historic house will be available until 4:00 pm.
Wyck’s public programs recieve major support from federal funders like the Institute for Museum and Library Services, which are currently at risk. Help us continue offering free programs and resources to our Northwest Philadelphia community by adding a donation to your ticket order.
