Event Series Event Series: Germantown Zine Workshop

Germantown Zine Workshop

July 25 @ 5:30 PM 7:30 PM

Hosted by Germantown Info Hub

Description (from host)

Germantown Info Hub is happy to partner with Resolve Philly’s Associate Editor of Community Narratives, Dio Roberson, to host zine-making workshops where neighbors can learn a simple but powerful form of storytelling with ordinary materials that you may have lying around your home.

These workshops will blend art, memory, journalism, and narrative to explore community history, create visions for the future, and explore our personal utopias. We will do this by examining the theme of If Spaces Could Talk…, where we invite neighbors to recall, rejoice, and fellowship in the memories of buildings, landmarks, parks and playgrounds, and other spaces that have meant the most to them in Germantown.

Throughout six engaging sessions, we’ll come together, delve into crafts, and foster dialogue about the places and spaces that have shaped Germantown into the community it is today. These workshops will also serve as listening sessions that will help inform what we use in our soon-to-be-updated Germantown Zine, which will follow our If Buildings Could Talk… theme.

We invite you to use the QR code on the flyer or this link (https://loom.ly/2S_DlqA) to make your recommendations about spaces and places you think should be explored for our upcoming Germantown Zine.

The first month of these workshops will happen at the Weavers Way Outreach Office, and then we will travel around Germantown throughout September via Natural Creativity and Lonnie Young Recreation Center.

Please feel free to bring whatever materials like old newspapers, magazines, crayons, markers, or whatever will make your experience better!

There is limited space, so please RSVP here: https://bit.ly/gtown-zine-july If you have any questions, please contact Rasheed Ajamu (all pronouns) at rasheed@resolvephilly.org.

UPDATE: ALL AGES ARE WELCOME! THIS DISCUSSION AND CRAFTS-MAKING ARE FOR ALL PEOPLE TO ENGAGE WITH!
