On June 22  Maplewood Mall turned into a Night Café and Block Party.

G-town Radio, Germantown United CDC, businesses, and friends of Maplewood Mall  turned the mall into open air cafe/block party for the entire family. This free event  had  live music, food to purchase and entertainment for children. The mission was two-fold: create a space for families and neighbors to enjoy a nice night out in Germantown and to engage  residents to re-imagine what the Maplewood Mall could be. Displays  were set up featuring plans for a mall re-design. Attendees were asked what types of businesses, activities or improvements they would like to see. To emphasize the theme of re-imagining we worked with several local artists to transform what we see and how we think about the space. The festive environment created an atmosphere not seen in Maplewood Mall for a very long time. A lot of people stepped forward to freely give their time and energy for this event.
